Simon Bruty Sports Illustrated Photographer

Simon Bruty is a photographer for Sports Illustrated.  He is from the U.K. and now lives in Washington D.C.  In 2009 Canon invited him to become a member of Explores of Light.  He is the first action photographer to show his work at Look3 Photography Festival.  Bruty has traveled to many countries to photograph sports all over the world.  He has photograph soccer in Zambia, golfers in Greenland, and badminton in Indonesia and worked on feature stories.  He has photograph many sports for Sports Illustrated including football, tennis, skiing, soccer, and golf.  Bruty is a photographer that has been able to show more then just action that everyone sees, he has been able to show a more in life photos of athletes through his photos.  He has won many awards including NPPA Best of Olympic Action Photographer 2011.  His award-winning photograph of Ronaldo was featured in an ad for Canon Europe before the 2006 World Cup Games  and in 2003 The London Observer chose one of Simon’s photographs to be included in their list of the World’s 50 Greatest Sports Photographs.

Craig F. Walker Photographer

Craig F. Walker is a photojournalist for the Denver Post.  He won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize Feature Photography for his work on documenting a veteran who just came back from Iraq and is struggling with a severe case of post-traumatic stress.  Walker joined the Denver Post in 1998 from the Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield, Mass.  When he was in Massachusetts, he worked at the Marlborough Enterprise where he began his career.  He has chronicled the final six months in the life of a woman with AIDS.  Walker has won many awards including being awarding the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photographer in 2010.  Since Sept. 11, 2001, Walker has been covering some of the most important threads of the terror attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., as well as covering the war since it has been began and fixing a compassionate lens on the men, women and children tangled then, and now, in the continuing story of geopolitical conflict.

Tomasz Gudzowaty Photographer

Tomasz Gudzowaty is a photographer that was born in 1971.  He started out studying and getting his degree in Law at University of Warsaw.  He than began photographing in black and white telling stories of nature and then turned to social documentary.  For the last couple of years he has been photographing sports.  Most of his work of sports on his website has a focus of non-commercial and outside the mainstream.  He has been able to photograph the Shaolin Temple and the monks inside studying a form of martial art.  Gudzowaty photos has been published in Max Magazine, L’Equipe, The Guardian, Newsweek, Forbes, Time and Photo.  He has won many awards from World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year, NPPA Best of Photojournalism.  He was named the 2011 NPPA BOP Sports Feature winner.  He cooperates with Focus Fotoagentur in Hamburg and Warsaw’s Yours Gallery.  I took the chance to look at some of his work and found it was fascinating on his approach of documentary sports and the sports he photographs.  When most people think of sports photography, they think of football, baseball, basketball and ect….  He shows sports that not many people look at or know about.

2012 WKU Alpha Tau Omega Tug

I’m working on a story about young Fraternity that shocked people last year in tug by placing 4th and has dreams of winning this years 2012 WKU’s Tug. I chose to tell this story, because there are many people out their that have dreams that try for them all the time. ATO wants to prove them-self to the rest of the Greek community that they compete with everyone at WKU.
